김일주

김일주는 일명 해바라기 작가로 알려져 있다. 유럽권에 서는 ‘ 태양의 꽃 · , ‘ 황금 꽃’으로 불리는 해바라기는 집안에 행운과 재물을 가져다준 다는 풍수설이 있어 가정 인테리어로 많이 사용된다. 길흉화복을 바라는 본연의 마음인 것이다. 최근 연작은 선물이란 주제로 부케형상을 그리고 있다. 부케에는 ” 다산과 풍요”를 기원하는 의미가 담겨있다. 거기에 해바라기라는 사물을 곁들여 주소재로 사용하였다. 그는 아크릴로 페인팅을 하는 작업을 하고 있지만 캔버스천 위가 아닌 닥지 ( 한지 ) 위에 그리는 작업을 한다. 종이죽은 어릴 적 미술의 시작점이라는 모뉴멘트가 되어주었다는 점에서 현재까지도 좋은 추억을 가지고 한지를 사용하고 있다. 또한 가공되지 않은 종이죽 형태의 닥지 ( 한지 ) 를 직접 펴서 말린 후 페인팅을 하면 그림의 깊이감과 특유의 따스함이 묻어난다. 다른 어떤 재료에서 쉽게 찾아 볼 수 없는 색감의 따스함이 있다.
