김호성 작품에서 보면 알 수 있듯이 사과 혹은 과일이나 꽂 같은 아름다운 모습을 가지고 있는 물체들이 모든 작품에 등장 한다. 이 모티브들은 작가가 추구하는 외형적 아름다움에 대한 비판에 가장 어울리는 소재로 오랜 기간 동안 작가와 함께 작업되어져 왔다. 유리라는 매개체가 등장한다. 이 매개체는 예쁜 과일이나 꽃의 모양을 원래 가지고 있는 그 아름다운 모양은 안중에도 없다 는 듯이 일그러트리고 왜곡시킨다. 이 세상을 살아가는데 반드시 외모의 중요성을 인정한다. 하지만 더욱 중요한 것은 속 내, 즉 그사람의 성품, 마음, 의지, 열정 등 외부로 보여지지 못하는 무언가가 그 사람의 가치를 결정지을 더 큰 단서가 아닐 까 김호성은 작품을 그리기 전 특정 공간에 하나의 현상을 만들고 그 현상을 카메라로 옮긴 후 인화된 사진을 기반으로 작품 을 해나간다. 현상은 표면 또는 우리가 눈으로 보고 몸으로 경험하는 대상이고 본질은 그 현상 아래에 숨어서 직접 만지거 나 볼 수 없는 대상이다. 현상과 본질은 서로 다른 대상에 대한 분류인 것이다.

As you can see from Kim Ho-seong’s work, beautiful objects such as apples, fruits, and sticks appear in all of the works. These motifs have been working with the artist for a long time as materials that best match the criticism of the artist’s external beauty. Glass appears as a medium. The medium distorts and distorts the beautiful shape of a pretty fruit or flower, which it originally possessed. We always acknowledge the importance of appearance in living in this world. But what is more important is that something invisible to the outside, such as the inside or the person’s character, heart, will, and passion, may not be a greater clue to the person’s value, so Kim Ho-seong creates a phenomenon in a specific space before painting, transfers the phenomenon to a camera, and then works based on printed photographs. A phenomenon is an object that we see with our eyes and experience with our bodies, and its essence is an object that hides under the phenomenon and cannot be touched or seen directly. Phenomena and essence are classifications of different objects.
