‘김정용 ‘삶의 정의와 방향성을 표현하는 작가’

작품이란 작가에 자문자답에 의한 결과물입니다. 사람을 삶을 살아가면서 자연스럽게 무수히 많은 질문을 스스로에게 던지며 작가란 이러한 질문에 대한 대답을 시각적요소를 통해서 작업물이라는 형태로 제작한다고 생각합니다. 이러한 가치관을 기반으로 제가 스스로에게 어떠한 질문을 던졌는지 생각을 해보니 대부분 삶과 관련된 질문이었습니다. ‘ 삶이란 무엇일까?’, ‘ 나는 옮은 삶을 살아가고 있는가?’, ‘ 나는 어떤 삶을 살아야 할까?’ 이렇듯 저는 스스로에게 던진 삶이라는 질문에 대한 답을 작품으로써 표현하고 있습니다. 또한 저는 이러한 주제를 기존의 페인팅 작품이 아닌 볼펜화 작업을 통해서 표현하고 있습니다. 볼펜 이라는 재료를 통해서 보여지는 잉크의 색감은 인위적인 재료인 만큼 기존의 페인팅작품에서 볼 수 없었던 강한 존재감을 가진 색감을 보여주며 붓의 면적이 아닌 볼펜에 선을 통한 질감과 형태는 새로운 깊이감을 보여줍니다. 조르주 쇠라의 점묘법을 기반으로 사실적인 묘사 방식이 아닌 하나의 색감 덩어리가 각 사이사이에 빈 공간을 두고 위치함으로써 각각의 색감과 깊이감을 대조적으로 부각시킬 수 있는 이미지를 표현하고 있습니다.

‘Kim Jung-yong ‘A writer who expresses the definition and direction of life’

A work is the result of a self-answer to the writer. As people live their lives, they naturally ask themselves countless questions, and I think that the artist produces the answers to these questions in the form of a work through visual elements. Most of them were related to life when I thought about what questions I had asked myself based on these values. Like ‘What is life?’ ‘Am I living a new life?’ and ‘What kind of life should I live?’ I express the answer to the question of life to myself through my work. Also, I express this theme through ballpoint pen painting work, not through existing painting work. As the color of ink shown through a material called a ballpoint pen is an artificial material, it shows a strong presence of color that was not seen in existing painting works, and the texture and shape through the line on a ballpoint pen rather than the area of the brush show a new sense of depth. Based on Georges Seurat’s pointillism, rather than a realistic description method, a lump of color is positioned with an empty space between each to express an image that can highlight each color and depth in contrast.
